Version 1.1 adds the ability to create sets of checklists, which is useful if you fly multiple aircraft. When Chekov updates to this version, all of your existing lists will be available in the “All Lists” set. If you only fly one airplane you don’t need to do anything: just keep on using Chekov as usual. If you fly multiple airplanes or if you want to split your lists up by some other category, here’s how to do it:
Create A New List Set
Tap the ☰ (“hamburger” menu) button in the upper left-hand corner to access the Settings screen.
Tap the current list set name in the Active List Set section at the top of the Settings screen. This will open the List Sets screen.
In the List Sets screen, tap the + button. This will open the New Set screen.
Enter the name of the new set in the List Set Name field.
Tap the < List Sets button to return to the List Sets screen.
You should see your new list set in the table. At this point you can create another set by repeating steps 3 – 5 or return to the Settings menu.
Switch Between List Sets
When you launch Chekov it automatically displays the lists for the most recently selected Active List Set. To change to a different list set:
Tap the ☰ (“hamburger” menu) button in the upper left-hand corner to access the Settings screen.
Tap the current list set name in the Active List Set section at the top of the Settings screen. This will open the List Sets screen.
In the List Sets screen, tap select the set you want to make active.
Checkov will load the selected list set. You will see the name of the selected list set at the top of the screen. You can now run, edit, or delete any of the lists in the set. If you create a new list by tapping the + button it will automatically be associated with the active set.
Move An Existing List To A New List Set
You may want to move some or all of your existing lists into a new list set. To do this:
If not already active, activate the List Set you wish to reorder (see “Switch Between List Sets” above).
Swipe left on the name of the list you want to move to expose the Delete and Edit buttons.
Tap the Edit button.
In the List Editor screen, tap the List Set item to open the List Set selector screen.
Tap to highlight the List Set to which the list should belong.
Tap the < Back button to return to the List Editor screen.
Tap the < Back button to return to the main List screen.
You should see that the list you moved is no longer displayed. To access it, activate the Let Set to which you moved it.
Deleting A List Set
Note that deleting a list set does not delete the associated lists. The lists that had been associated with the set will still be available from the “All Lists” set, and can be associated with a different set using the instructions above. To delete a list set:
Tap the ☰ (“hamburger” menu) button in the upper left-hand corner to access the Settings screen.
Tap the current list set name in the Active List Set section at the top of the Settings screen. This will open the List Sets screen.
In the List Sets screen, swipe left on the set you want to delete to expose the Delete button.
Tap the Delete button.
If the set you have deleted was the active set, Chekov will default to the “All Lists” set.
Setting The Order Of Lists In A Set
This release adds the ability to change the order of checklists within a list set. To do this:
If not already active, activate the List Set you wish to reorder (see “Switch Between List Sets” above).
Tap the Edit button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to enter edit mode.
Use the slider icons (☰) that appear on the right hand side of the list names to drag them into the desired order.
Tap the Edit button again to exit edit mode.
Other changes in version V1.1 R1:
Revised the file naming system to prevent name collisions in cases where the same name is used in multiple list sets. Lists are now stored using UUID strings as filenames.
Added icons to the Lists and List Sets
Changed list item “Edit” behavior to match Apple standards. (Button caption now toggles between “Edit” and “Done”.)
Fixed a bug that prevented Chekov from opening Checklist documents (.chklst) on iCloud Drive or in the Files app.
Made it harder to create a list with no name.
Small style changes for better user experience.
Fixed a bug that caused speech recognition to fail after the first item on some older iOS devices.
Fixed a bug that erroneously limited total lists to 5 on un-upgraded versions.
Known Issues in v1.1 R1:
If the app is not resident (i.e. has not been previously started or has been killed) and a Checklist file is shared (typically via AirDrop), the app will launch but will not receive the sent list. The sender will need to re-send it. This appears to be a but in iOS 13. A question has been posted on Apple Developer forums.
Not a bug, but simply a limitation of the iOS platform: offline speech recognition is not available in some older devices capable of running iOS 13. The iPad Mini 4, for example, does not support offline speech. If your device is older and has a CPU that does not support speech recognition (anything prior to the A9 family) you will need to tap to acknowledge list items.
